OUR MISSION IN SCHOOLS

School is the Most Adequate Environment for Helping Children

Wings of Hope Foundation has been continuously implementing psychosocial support programs for children and youth since its founding in 1994. Programs are implemented in cooperation with primary and secondary schools throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The Foundation continues to develop psychosocial programs that adapt to the changing needs of users, increasingly adapting to the specific needs of the school population and the contexts in which they operate. In this way, the programs evolve and include a support program in learning and a program for developing social skills for children of primary school age.

THE FOUNDATION OF OUR WORK

Detraumatization Program for War-Traumatized Children

The detraumatization program for war-traumatized children began back in 1994, under the professional guidance of prof. dr. Ejuba Ćatića, based on a non-judgmental approach to treating trauma.

The program, in addition to individual and group support, also pays special attention to families. Through community contact, it connects the school and the wider social community.

FEATURED PROJECT · OCTOBER 2012 TO JULY 2013

Integration or Inclusion: Redefining Culture, Policies, and Practices in Schools of Canton Sarajevo

The project was implemented with the aim of developing inclusive education practice models, focused on cooperation with all relevant social actors, built on the diversity of all students, and encourages their active participation in the school community and life.

Redefining school culture, policies, and practices is focused on the Index of Inclusion, which presents new theoretical and practical concepts of developing the school education system in intercultural settings. The Index of Inclusion ensures improvement of conditions for all students during their education. It also represents a paradigm shift in the integration of children with special educational needs in inclusive schools, which is based on the principle that all students should be at the center of all decisions, intersections, inclusions, minority, and education of children and youth.

The project is supported by the Open Society Foundation BiH.
