CONTINUING PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

Professional Education

OUR APPROACH

It is of vital importance that those who provide help are continuously educated

Therefore, Wings of Hope Foundation regularly holds internal sessions on various topics. It also organizes training for those who are not part of the Foundation, fostering communication and working relationships among professionals – psychologists, psychiatrists, teachers, and volunteers.

To date, the Foundation has educated over 25 experts from Bosnia and Herzegovina in numerous specific areas. These include psychotraumatology and trauma-centered psychotherapy, the application of EMDR techniques (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) in working with children, and education in therapeutic fairy tales and their application in working with children.

In recent years, Wings of Hope has closely collaborated with the non-governmental organizations Vive Žene from Tuzla and OKC from Banja Luka. Additionally, the Foundation held a workshop for psychologists and cognitive-behavioral therapists on the topic of “LGBT clients in psychotherapy and psychotherapy” with a focus on the challenges that LGBT+ persons encounter in the psychotherapeutic process.

WORKING WITH TEACHERS

Teacher Education on Four Key Topics

Wings of Hope has worked with teachers as well, educating them on topics at the heart of everyday work in schools. Additional training on mental health and the consequences of violence has also been held.

Anger, Aggression, and Violence

Recognizing, understanding, and working with anger, aggression, and violent behavior in students in the classroom and beyond.

Forms of Peer Violence

Various forms of peer violence, from verbal and physical to digital, and how to recognize them in a timely manner.

Measuring the Occurrence of Violence

Ways in which schools and teachers can systematically measure and monitor the occurrence of violence in the school environment.

Development of Pro-Social Behavior

Developing pro-social behavior in schools — how to build a culture of respect, empathy, and cooperation among students.

This has helped schools analyze violent behavior from different angles, improve school culture, and carry out individual assessments of student needs. Education on mental health has enabled members of pedagogical-psychological teams to recognize the first signs of problems, enabling early and effective intervention.
