Conference “Opportunities and Challenges of the Energy Transition”

The Center for Ecology and Energy, in cooperation with the Heinrich Böll Foundation and with the support of the EU, organised a conference on Friday, 23 November 2018, within the framework of the projects “Energy Policy for Climate Protection” and “CSOs as Equal Partners in Monitoring Public Finance”, in which 50 representatives of local and entity administration, non-governmental organisations, experts in the fields of energy and ecology, as well as representatives of the academic community and small and medium-sized enterprises participated.

During the first session, Prof. Dr. Mirza Kušljugić spoke about the energy transition and the role of local communities, while economic analyst Damir Miljević informed participants about the economic aspects of the energy transition and possible modalities for financing the transition at the local level. At the second session, M.Sc. Renata Radić-Dragić presented CIN’s research on the entry of the private sector and capital into projects related to thermal power plants, and M.Sc. Džemila Agić presented the study “Public Infrastructure – In Whose Interest?”.

A discussion and interaction between participants and institutions was initiated, and the conference also provided an opportunity for networking and creating connections between institutions, organisations and individuals in Bosnia and Herzegovina working on similar topics in the fields of environment, energy, public finances and transparency.

Conclusions were reached at the conference, and the expert team prepared proposals which will be sent to the relevant ministries. The conclusions and proposals will be publicly presented on the official website and Facebook page of the organiser.

The agenda is available in the attachment.
